Inference

Inference is a word meaningderived knowledge: from inputs held to be true, a logical consequence follows.

It is contested by counterexample — a case where the implication fails — or by an ambiguity objection on one of its terms; its confidence reflects how well its chain of reasoning has withstood scrutiny.
